The World Wrestling Championships U17 took place from July 28 to August 3 at Ano Liosia Olympic Indoor Hall. For one week, Athens became the epicenter of world wrestling, welcoming more than 1,000 athletes, coaches, and accompanying staff from all over the world — a record number for the event.

The Championships were organized by the Hellenic Wrestling Federation under the auspices of the Attica Region, with valuable support from SPORTCAMP, which drew on its long-standing experience in hosting and supporting major international sports events.

The Greek team made a strong showing with a full delegation, reaffirming the country’s ongoing investment in developing the sport’s new generation. And the effort paid off:
Greece celebrated two medals from two highly promising athletes. Dimitris Soulis won the silver medal in the 71 kg Greco-Roman Wrestling category, demonstrating consistency and excellent technique throughout the tournament. Equally impressive was Maria Louiza Gika, who climbed to the third step of the podium, earning the bronze medal in the 46 kg Women’s Wrestling category, confirming her rising talent.
