International Olympic Academy is the Leading Institution for Olympic Education since 1961.
It offers Olympic Experiences in the place where it all began: Ancient Olympia. With over 60 years of Olympic expertise, working closely with the IOC and the most prestigious academic and sports organisations in order to offer high-quality educational programmes, the IOA is the only organisation worldwide that combines first-rate event hosting services with tailored educational programmes inspired by the Olympic Movement.
The mission of the IOA is to study, enrich and promote Olympism and its values in relevance with current global issues of Olympic interest and in conformity with the principles laid down by the ancient Greeks and the revivers of the contemporary Olympic Movement.

THE IOA PREMISES
The IOA is situated a few hundred meters away from the sacred site of Ancient Olympia, next to the ancient stadium where the Olympic Flame Lighting Ceremony takes place. The Archaeological Museum of Ancient Olympia, the Museum of the History of the Ancient Olympic Games, and the Modern Olympic Games Museum are in walking distance as is also the village of Ancient Olympia.
The IOA premises, sprawled around 400.000m2 of beautiful green and hilly countryside, are comprised of:
A Conference Centre (1800m2) built in 3 levels which includes:
- The modern and fully equipped amphitheater “Dimitrios Vikelas” of 400 seats with the provision of simultaneous translation in 8 languages
- 6 teaching rooms
- A library with study areas, fully equipped on Olympic and sports related issues (more than 20.000 book titles)
- Lecturers lounge
