The "1st Loutraki International Swimming Cup", the international swimming meeting organized for the first time in Loutraki was absolutely successfull.
The sports clup "Poseidon Loutraki" in cooperation with the Hellenic Swimming Federation, organized for the first time in Loutraki a swimming meeting of international standards which was registered at the LEN official calendar of events and was approved by FINA. The weekend of 24 & 25, June 2017, 320 athletes in total from 5 different countries, Russia, Greece, Armenia, Romania and Sweden, competed in 8 categories (4 swimming styles for boys and 4 swimming styles for girls). Additional teams swimming relay competitions were held both for boys and girls. The 3 top athletes were awarded in each category and the 8 top athletes of all categories received special prizes. The event was received with enthousiasm by the local audience with more than 600 attendants throughout the weekend in spite of the high temperatures.
The event is already scheduled for 2018 with special interest from swimmers around the world as it has been listed amongst the events in which athletes will qualify points for the Olympic Games of 2020.
The "1st Loutraki International Swimming Cup" was implemented by SPORTCAMP in cooperation with the SPORT VILLAGE travel agency. The Municipality of Loutraki, Perachora, Agioi Theodoroi and the Region of Peloponnese supported the event which was held under the auspices of the Hellenic Swimming Federarion, LEN and of the Ministry of Tourism of the Hellenic Republic.
The Loutraki Municipal Swimming Centre hosted the event, since its Olympic standards facilities of K1 category are ideal for the realization of significant swimming events, approved by KOE. LEN and FINA.
